Rescue work continues after four people died and 41 others were injured in earthquakes-hit Ya'an City in southwest China's Sichuan Province, local authorities said at a press conference on Thursday morning.
The deaths and injured were in Lushan and Baoxing counties respectively, and one of the injured is in severe condition.
Ya'an got hit by a third earthquake, whose magnitude was 3.2, on Thursday morning, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center, after being hit by two quakes on Wednesday evening.
More than 800 municipal reinforcements have been organized in Ya'an city to carry out search and rescue, treatment of the injured, road scrambling and relocation of quake-affected people, according to local authorities.
As of 5 a.m., 200 tents, 1,000 quilts and 200 tent lights have been sent to Lushan and Baoxing counties, said local officials, adding that 61 temporary shelters, 34 in Baoxing county and 27 in Lushan county respectively, were set up to relocate 12,722 people affected by the disaster.
A total of 13,081 people in the city were affected by the earthquakes, while 135 houses were seriously damaged, and 4,374 houses were slightly damaged, according to local officials.
Besides, five hydropower stations in Lushan County were damaged and relevant personnel have been evacuated.
At present, 69 vehicles, 236 professionals with 37 unmanned aerial vehicles have been deployed to inspect 1,953 potential places of geological hazards in and around the quake-hit areas and implement disaster prevention measures to guard against further natural disasters brought by earthquakes and rainfall.
With a great deal of mountainous terrain, Sichuan is prone to earthquakes.
